Siggiewi Rowing Club is involved in a number of externally funded projects and initiatives to enable it reach out to everybody in society through the beautiful sports of rowing. Our projects include:
ISport

ISport, a project, in collaboration and funded by The Malta Trust Foundation chaired by H.E. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, empowers individuals with a visual impairment (including fully bling blind individuals) through Para sport. Though this project, together with other stakeholders led by the Malta Paralympic Committee, we are changing perceptions of disabilities and enabling various visually impaired young athletes to enjoy the sport of rowing in a meaningful manner. Please fill this form to enrol on this programme.
Our ISport training sessions are held as part of our regular training programmes at Dar tal-Providenza Gym.
Rowing for Health & Recovery

Rowing is well-known to be a uniquely effective form of exercise when used as therapy (see https://www.rowtorecoverygalway.ie/news/2/the-physical-mental-and-social-benefits-of-rowing). It combines aerobic training with full-body strength work, while remaining low-impact and adaptable for individuals of varying ages (including the elderly [1]), abilities, and medical backgrounds [2].
Benefits include improved body composition, cardiovascular fitness, joint mobility, muscular strength, and overall quality of life. Importantly, rowing also provides strong social and psychological benefits through teamwork, motivation, and a sense of belonging to a community. VOPs 2024 – Inclusive Rowing for a Healthier Self and Society
The overarching principle behind this project is the knowledge that on-water rowing, particular when practised on stable coastal rowing sliding-seat boats which are specifically designed to be rowed in the sea provide massive benefits to various types of end users who deserve to be empowered and supported to have a better, healthier and more enjoyable and fulfilling life. Further details are available here.
